Statement from KTG

We are deeply saddened and shocked about the tragic news regarding Otto Warmbier. Our sincerest thoughts go to his family and loved ones.

We have been in touch with personnel from the US embassy in Beijing and will continue to communicate with them for information about possible updates regarding travel to the DPRK for US citizens. They strongly recommend US citizens not to go to North Korea as was the case before this tragic case.

As we have done in the past, we recommend travellers to check with their Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Department of State regarding advice for travel to the DPRK. We also recommend travellers to register with their respective embassies in Beijing when going to North Korea.
