DPRK Borders to Re-open!

KTG - First to Announce it!

Hello we hope that you are doing well!

As you may have read online already, the DPRK has confirmed that the borders will re-open this winter!

KTG were the first to announce this and now the news is everywhere!

When?

The borders are set to open in winter, presumably December, 2024. However, specific dates have not been confirmed.

Where?

So far just the Samjiyon area. This is where Mount Paektu is located, the highest peak in the DPRK and one of the most sacred places in Korea.

Two years ago, our Korean partners sent us new programs, hotels and facilities available to travellers in Samjiyon.

As for the rest of the country, including Pyongyang, there has been no official confirmation. Our personal opinion is that they will open too soon, but nothing has been confirmed regarding this.

How do we go?

This has not been announced yet. Pyongyang did send us new information a few months ago regarding domestic flight routes between Pyongyang and Samjiyon. However, they have not notified us how tourists will go there once the borders re-open.

What will we do there?

Again, the exact itinerary has not been confirmed, but we expect this to be ready in the coming weeks.

A team will go to the Mt. Paektu area next week to check all the places and itineraries will likely be ready around a week after that.

Apart from what has been possible to do already and visit some of the most important places in the DPRK, we expect to stay at new hotels, skate, ski, visit a local school and farm, etc.

However, nothing has been confirmed.

I want to book my place now!

Believe us, we are as eager to go as you are! However, we will not be accepting any bookings until dates and itineraries are fully confirmed.

We recommend you to follow us on Facebook as we will post all updates there first.

Stay tuned!
